At LRB, we’ve seen first-hand how podcasting has evolved from a niche passion project into a powerful tool for businesses around the world.
They are a viral platform for storytelling, thought leadership, and brand visibility.
We work with B2B clients across the UK to produce high-impact podcasts and video content that expand the marketing reach of companies in many industries.
But beyond what we have experienced in the studio or on site, the numbers tell a compelling story of their own.
Podcast consumption in the UK has reached unprecedented levels, with millions tuning in weekly for everything from industry insights to in-depth interviews.
In this article, we’ll break down the latest UK podcast statistics.
Statista estimates that there are around 15.5 million monthly listeners in 2025.
This is up nearly 6% year‑on‑year.
According to podcastindex, there are 4,509,765 total podcasts available to watch, listen to, and download in the UK (and around the world).
Research from Edison Research’s UK Podcast Consumer 2024, found that over two‑thirds of UK adults (69 %) have listened to a podcast at least once, with 42 % tuning in monthly and 30 % weekly.
All of these are record highs for the podcasting industry in the UK.
The data also found that weekly listeners spend an average of five hours and 27 minutes per week listening.
When compared to other forms of media, podcasting is one of the fastest growing available to consumers today.
When it comes to marketing within the B2B space, podcasts can get brands in front of new audiences.
Young adults in the UK are some of the most dedicated podcast consumers.
A significant majority of 18–34-year-olds listen to podcasts on a monthly basis, with 41% tuning in weekly.
Unsurprisingly, this is well above the national average for UK adults.
This age group not only listens more frequently but also shows strong brand and content loyalty, and engaging across social media platforms.
As podcast consumption continues to rise, this demographic remains a driving force behind the medium’s growth and innovation.
The importance of podcasting was also highlighted in the study, as the top 10 podcasts in the UK combine to reach 31% of all weekly podcast listeners. This increases to 44% for the top 25 podcasts,
An Ofcom survey found that more than one in five UK adults now listen to podcasts on a weekly basis, with the highest reach seen among younger audiences and individuals in higher-income households.
